This is as a result of a Presidential directive that a Peace Committees comprising of Former Governors and Elders in the State be set up immediately to consider among other things,the issue of Ranching in the State.
The issue of provision of Land for ranching and grazing has been a very contentious one in the State to the extent that the State enacted an Anti Grazing Law in the State.
Despite the establishment of security outfit to enforce the law,it has suffered setbacks as a result of opposition to the attempt to prevent cattle grazing in the State.
The situation became so bad that a former Governor of the State was almost murdered by people he alleged to be Fulani Herdsmen who have been largely said to carry AK47 guns.
Under the New arrangement, the Fulani's are to return to Benue State through a Presidential arrangement.
